Polyethylene Shell (5mm). Used for treatment of out-toeing. The medial plantar flange extends beyond the first and second metatarsal heads to limit joint dorsiflexion during gait. Since the joint is unable to propel without dorsiflexion, the foot must roll laterally to allow dorsiflexion at the 4th and 5th metatarsal joints. This lateral Rolling then forces the forefoot to abduct because the more supination that is allowed at the midtarsal and subtalor joints the more abduction will be allowed at the fore foot
